Sex Offenders

We contend that sex offenders are the scourge of society; that the damage they do, the fear they instil, are reprehensible, and that there's nothing we can do to stop them or control their compulsions. However, there are two measures that will absolutely stop sex offenders dead in their tracks: a life sentence on the first conviction; and/or castration. Permanent, not chemical. I'm rather partial to the second option. Its time this unspeakable option is debated. If a man can't fight his urges, we take them away. The damage caused to children and rape victums by these men is lifelong and so should the punishment to them be. These men have weapons and we should take them away. If the right of a person to have a sex drive endangers a portion of society, don't we have an obligation to do whatever is necessary to protect ourselves? Is there a man alive who wouldn't rather keep it in his pants than loose it?

Statutory Holidays

Its February 20. Its Presidents' Day. Folks in the US have had two stat holidays, including today, since the first of the year. In Canada, I have to wait until Good Friday for a free day off. What the? I thought Canada was the socialist, pro-worker country!

Canadian Federal Election

I feel an urgency in pointing out to those people who are considering voting conservative because of the sponsorship scandal that Stephen Harper is also wasting a significant amount of taxpayer money by demanding an unnecessary election, for the sole purpose of an inflated ego (Yeah, I know. Jack Layton was there too, but he's not at all as scary.). Those few dollars he's promising to put in your pockets won't make up for the reduction in Medicare, education and other spending he is more than eager to sacrifice. Besides, there's nothing - no law, not even, apparently, ethics - holding him to those promises. Please learn from the destruction the current administration in the United States has levied on its population - Harper is of the same mould - and don't vote conservative.
